Is this The End of the Line for fish?

Tuesday 29.09.09, 4:12pm

Lisa Higginson

A rare opportunity to discover the compelling truth behind the state of the world’s diminishing fish stocks is coming to Manchester. The End of The Line - the world’s first major feature documentary about the impact over fishing is having on our oceans – is being screened as part of Manchester Food and Drink Festival on Monday, October 5 at The Comedy Store.

Based on the book by former Telegraph journalist Charles Clover, the documentary was filmed over two years and aims to expose those who take advantage of the seas and the catastrophic consequences on the world’s fish supplies.

The film, which is narrated by Ted Danson, examines the imminent extinction of blue fin tuna, brought on by increasing western demand for sushi; the impact on marine life resulting in huge overpopulation of jellyfish and the profound implications of a future world with fish – which would bring certain mass starvation. Directed by Rupert Murray, the film was also selected for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

The End of the Line will show at 6pm and tickets cost £6 or £5 concessions. For more information and to book tickets visitwww.endoftheline.com
