Manchester Food and Drink Festival’s fantastic finale is approaching with a four-day extravaganza of fine food, bespoke beers and entertainment.
The Festival Finale Pavilion (October 8-11) returns to Albert Square this year, where a selection of top city eateries, local ale producers, chocolatiers, musicians and more will gather for the festival’s concluding days and create a buzzing atmosphere for all to enjoy.
The twelfth Manchester Food and Drink Festival (October 1-12) is now in full swing with hundreds of different events all across the city centre and outskirts. The first day (October 1) launched in St Ann’s Square with beautiful sunshine, great food stalls and the first of some fantastic chef demos.
Here's the lowdown on the Festival Finale Pavilion.
Chocolate Day
On Thursday, October 8, there will be a celebration of chocolate in association with The Chocolate Café, on Deansgate. For one very special day only, visitors to the pavilion will be able to taste The Chocolate Café’s unique products, such as its trademark Real Drinking Chocolate, made from pure melted solid chocolate blended into frothy milk; handmade truffles and its sensational organic chocolate bars. Chocolate fans can also watch a chocolate pizza demonstration and join in by making their own slice of pizza heaven to take away.
Oktoberfest
Try a taste of Germany with the first Manchester Oktoberfest, in association with Lufthansa and Kro Bar. Running over the four days, part of the pavilion will be dedicated to the famous traditional German beer-fest, which takes place in Munich.
Beers such as Paulaner, bottled Bavarian beers and wheat beers will be served in the traditional stein glass, and foods stuff as meat and cheese platters to soak up the ales. Lederhosen are optional!
Real Ale Festival
Greater Manchester Real Ale Festival is back for a second year! Set over Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10, this event, in association with CAMRA, brings together more than 30 of the best local ale brewers and their wares.
Among those pulling pints during the event will be Millstone Brewery, Allgates Brewery, Greenfield Brewery and Bank Top Brewery as well as many more.
Ale and Pie Day
Saturday, October 10 has now been designated Ale and Pie Day, courtesy of Holland’s Pies who will be providing some delicious meaty snacks for hungry punters. And to properly celebrate their best-ever pies and puds, Holland’s are launching their search for Holland’s Heroes; people who deserve a bumper delivery of lovely pies, on the same day.
